Jeanne Clery was a college student in Pennsylvania who was tortured, raped, and murdered in her dorm room in 1986. After this, her parents made sure that campus safety was improved on a national scale. I plan to do further research on the Clery Act for my paper. This article explained to me the contents of The Ohio State University Department of Public Safety’s 2009 Annual Campus Security Report, that I read as article one. I now know why so much information about the university’s crime rates were provided; along with prevention methods and contact information for reporting crimes and for victim support. If I would have known of this document previously to shopping around for a college, it most definitely would have played a major role in my selection.
This article was very informative and provided me not only with information I plan to use in my paper, but also with information I would like to complete further research on.

Good idea to make all the relevant statistics known. It''s only fair for us to know what we are getting into!
ReplyDeleteThis is so creepy! To think that it was in her own dorm room too.
ReplyDeleteBea, I know, I really couldn't believe my eyes when I read that. I just don't understand how no one heard any of it. Also she wasn't found for three days. It's one of the saddest stories I've ever heard. :(
ReplyDeleteObi, I completely agree. I am very thankful that Jeanne's parents made such an effort to make college a safer place.
