The seventh episode of Angel, “The Bachelor Party” was about love, old and new. Cordelia went on a date with a rich guy and found that she needs more than money to fall in love. Angel was reminded of Buffy by an old photograph. But most of all, Doyle’s wife returned. This was a total shock because he doesn’t wear a wedding ring and seems all wrapped up in Cordelia. Apparently, they got married young and were very much in love, but when they started to have problems she took off and found someone new.
This episode dealt with a lot of different aspects of love. Trying to find someone to love, trying to forget someone you love, and trying to accept the fact that the person you love has found someone else. These are things that almost everyone goes through at a certain point in life.
When you’re trying to find someone to love there are many things you look for: physical attraction, personality, common interests, etc. Once you find that person, if something goes wrong it’s very hard to move on and forget them. But the hardest thing of all has to be dealing with the fact that the person you love has moved on. It means they have replaced you and found someone new to share their love and life with. I believe the only way to truly be ok with it is by moving on as well.
Love is complicated, can sometimes get messy, or even break your heart. But nothing beats being in love.
