Episode eight of Angel, “I Will Remember You” was all about sacrifice. What happens is Buffy comes to town and they get attacked by a demon who has blood that is regenerative. While fighting Angel gets cut and then when he stabs the demon some of its blood gets in Angel’s wound and mixes with his. After the mixing of their blood Angel’s heart begins to beat and he has been given back his mortal life. Now that Angel is human, he and Buffy can finally be together like they have always dreamed of. Later, Angel discovers how hard it is to fight as a human and that the end of days is coming and the slayer will die. He believes that if he sacrifices his new life and goes back to being a vampire with a soul that he could save his true love.
He sacrificed his life, full of the human pleasures that he has been long deprived of just for the possibility that it will save Buffy’s life. Everyday people make sacrifices for those that they love. They see a movie they don’t want to see, go to a restaurant they don't like, or even move half way across the world to be with the one they love. But it’s not every day that someone gives up their life for another. To do this you truly have to care about the other person more than yourself which is hard for a human with a naturally selfish nature. I can’t imagine being in a situation like that; whether I was the one sacrificing or vice versa. It is truly the ultimate sacrifice.
