Blog 46: 9 Things to Stop Worrying About

Today I read an article from MSN. It was about some common misconceptions; things that we are all taught are “bad” for our health. This article is claiming that they’re all myths. I’m only going to discuss three of them, but if you want to read more I provided the link at the end of my blog.
The first example was that we should drink 8 glasses of water a day. However, the U.S. Food and Nutrition Board said we should drink 8 glasses of fluid a day. That means we can drink virtually anything; not just water. I always try to drink plenty of water and juice; I feel like it’s probably better for me than pop, coffee, and energy drinks. But, who knows? The next example is that reading in dim lighting is bad for your eyes and could cause long term damage. Turns out, it can make your eyes tired, but after you rest up everything is back to normal! Personally, I’m very happy about this one because I read in bad light sometimes and I always worry that I’ll pay for it at my next eye exam. The last myth I’m going to discuss is that being cold, means you’ll catch a cold. Ha! I should show this to my mom. Every time I left my coat in the car because I didn’t want to carry it around the mall I got a speech about how I was going to get sick from being in the cold. Turns out, mom was wrong!

  3. Fancy, I know what you mean. I have trouble believing 100% of what I read online. But, this article had some quotes from doctors, so I hope it's reliable!
